The Chuk-son Trail: An urban interpretive exploration
Saturday, January 13, 9 AM to Noon
Join Ironwood Tree Experience staff and youth leaders on the Chuk-son Trail! We will stroll 1 mile of Tucson’s historic barrios, arroyos, and alleyways for a rich diversity of experiences.
The Chuk-son Trail is an urban interpretive walk that explores the rich culture, ecology, and communities of the past and present. The Trail highlights that which makes Sonoran Desert living so fascinating as we learn about Tucson’s wildlife, plants, architecture, murals, traditional foods, shrines, history and local characters.
We will meet and start our walk at 9AM, 9:30 or 10am start times near the base of Sentinel Peak (A Mountain) on Mission Lane at the parking lot just east of Mission Garden, 946 W Mission Ln,Tucson, AZ 85745
We will end and conclude our walk at El Tiradito Shrine in Barrio Viejo at the Northwest corner of S Main Avenue and W Simpson Street.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing. Bring a reusable water bottle, sun hat, and a mask for possible carpooling/streetcar back to the starting point. Young people ages 8 and up are welcome!
We will be trying to limit each start time group to a maximum of 15 people to assist for thr group to move along and youth leaders to facilitate.
